The York Editing Guild is an association of freelance editors. We provide editing for self-published authors to help your writing be the best it can be. We are here to sharpen your quill, encourage you when it feels overwhelming, and help you persevere until your project is done.

Historically, guilds were collections of tradesmen who practiced the same craft. Part of the purpose of the guild was to guarantee professionalism and quality. Unlike solitary freelance editors who don’t have the benefit of working with a team, editors at the York Editing Guild provide extra backup to one another and hold each other accountable to a high level of standards. This enables us to ensure quality editing in a timely manner.

When you choose to work with us, you can pick which editor works best with your style and your needs. Fill out the contact form to let us know a little bit about your work-in-progress, your timeline, and what type of editing you are looking for. All editors with availability to work on your project will complete a sample copyedit so that you can get a feel for which editor you would like to work with. Different editors may do different phases of the editing process so that you can have more professional eyes on your work. We can’t wait to hear your story!
