All editors with availability to work on your project will copyedit a scene you submit. This will help you pick an editor that’s right for you and your project.

Are you feeling stuck in your story and are trying to figure out where to go next? Do you need someone to brainstorm with you about how to move forward? Schedule a session to talk through a plot problem or help you with your writer’s block.

The first stage of editing, looking at the overarching story. Does the plot make sense; are the themes conveyed well; are the characters and ideas introduced at the right time? This process includes up to 2 hours of brainstorming conversations with your editor.

The second stage of editing, looking at the writing itself. Grammar, word choice, consistency of tone and style, clarity, etc. The editor will also deliver a style guide, noting information such as character names, geographical locations, and the author's stylistic preferences.

The final stage of editing, usually reading the final version as a PDF, KPF, or EPUB file. Editors try to catch any last-minute errors such as mistakes in punctuation, formatting, and spelling.
